StarCraft II given Adults Only rating in South Korea, teens freak out in response

StarCraft II has tentatively been given an Adults Only (18+) rating in South Korea, causing Blizzard a certain amount of consternation. Blizzard has 30 days to appeal the rating. If you think that volcano caused chaos and mayhem, you obviously aren't familiar StarCraft's significance in South Korea.

Yes~! There will be Independence Day sequels, Will Smith will be all over them

Nice, another sci-fi movie story. 'tis a grand day, indeed. The story is a two-parter: one, there will be an Independence Day 2 and Independence Day 3. That's insane enough. Two: Will Smith will be in both. Loving the creativity coming out of Hollywood these days.

Not a Rumor: LG launches the Sprint Rumor Touch at CES

It’s been a big week of sequels for LG at CES 2010; first they launch the LG Lotus’ slightly-upgraded sibling, the Lotus Elite, and now they’re following up the LG Rumor with the finger-centric Rumor Touch. The LG Rumor Touch is a feature phone, but it’s probably about as fancy as feature phones come before you [...]

Hollywood made $10 billion in 2009. In better news, only 5 billion years till the sun runs out of fuel!

On the face of it, today's story that 2009 was Hollywood's best ever (so thanks for rewarding creativity, America), raking in some $10 billion, should be good news for a few people. It should be good news for the movie studios, which will now invest that money in yachts, caviar, human growth hormone, and sequels to today's sequels. It should be good news for theatre owners, who were concerned that people would stop going to the movies as a result of the recession. Not so! (As if they didn't have a precedent to cite...) It should be good news, in a weird way, to people who pirate movies and bleat that their doing so isn't harming the industry one bit.

Study: Nobody pays attention to video game scores (especially Metacritic ones)

I've never hidden my disdain for Metacritic (and GameRankings, but mostly Metacritic), the Web site that aggregates review scores for video games (and movies and so forth). It's an insane concept: let's round up all of these ostensibly separate opinions, throw 'em in a blender, and come up with a single, solitary number that conveys a game's entire worth. Balderdash, I say. Review scores aren't a standardized measurement—a 9.2 over at IGN doesn't mean a 9.2 at Edge, or an A over at 1UP.

Take-Two delays BioShock 2 until (fiscal year) 2010 [Update]

Isn’t that a shame? Take-Two has announced that they’ve shifted the launch date for BioShock 2 to fiscal year 2010. Citing “several factors”, the publisher felt it necessary to push out BS2 so that it can get additional development time. While the original launch date of November 3 falls under Take-Two’s fiscal year of 2010, it’s being pushed back even further to an undetermined date.
