Shock: The iPhone 4 isn’t scratch-proof
Posted on June 23, 2010 | No CommentsThe iPhone 4 has a glass front and back panel and even though it’s constructed of chemically-strengthen Gorilla Glass, it’s not exact immune from scratches. It’s like a nice watch that has a sapphire glass crystal. It’s tough, but it will still scratch. Just look at Ryan Block’s iPhone 4. See that? It’s a scratch. -
TRON controllers will be available for purchase
Posted on June 22, 2010 | No Comments
Rejoice user! Devin won't be keeling over from auto-eroticasphyxiation after all. The TRON controllers that he saw at E3 and threatened to hold his breath over? Well, they are going to be for sale. To be honest, I haven't considered replacing my stock Xbox 360 controllers until this point, but now I'm afraid I have no choice. -

Shock study: Adult Web sites are filled with malware
Posted on June 11, 2010 | No CommentsWow, who would have guessed that visiting adult Web sites would be dangerous to the health of your computer? I mean, of all of the genres of sites out there—sports, tech, politics, books, etc.—the last I would have predicted to be dangerous was adult ones. Thanks, International Secure System Lab

iPhone 4’s screen may be tough, but don’t think that it’s shatter proof
Posted on June 10, 2010 | No Comments
I'm sure we all know at least 2 or 3 people that have accidentally dropped their iPhone and watched in horror as the screen shattered into so many tiny pieces. It may have even happened to you.
So, I'm sure you were pleased when Apple showed off how tough the new screen on the upcoming iPhone 4 was. I mean, they bent it like 30 degrees, fer cryin' out loud! That's like a million more degrees than the previous screen could bend, right?
But what they didn't show you was how it handled being dropped from waist height onto the ground. Three times. It took iFix your i to do that, and I've got some bad news: it didn't survive.

Boost Mobile confirm release date for crazy-tough Motorola i1: June 20th
Posted on May 31, 2010 | No Comments
Weehee! The missing piece of the Motorola i1 puzzle has now been placed, courtesy of an ad shown during the Indianapolis 500: the device will be released June 20th.
The device is Boost Mobile's first Android offering (and arguably their best phone yet), and is also the first Android device to offer iDEN push-to-talk functionality.
The biggest selling point of the device, however, is that it conforms to Military standard 810F, making it dust-, shock- and rain-proof.

It starts: Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas complains about Adidas Jabulani ball ahead of World Cup
Posted on May 29, 2010 | 1 CommentRight on cue, then. 'Twas only a few days ago that I had mentioned the grand tradition of World Cup goalkeepers complaining about the ball used in the tournament, and we now have our very first complaints (at least I think it's the first). Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who's probably the best goalkeeper going into the tournament (it's either him or Júlio César, of Brazil), said after Spain's 3-2 win over Saudi Arabia in a pre-tournament friendly about an hour ago: "It's a little sad that in a competition as big as the World Cup to have such a poor ball [the Jabulani]. It's not just the goalkeepers complaining, but the outfield players as well." Here we go~!

Motorola expects Android 2.2 update to hit Droid ‘in the near future’
Posted on May 24, 2010 | No CommentsHearing Google say that Android 2.2 would be filtering out to the Nexus One in short order was no huge shock -- after all, it's Google's first smartphone. But for those who purchased Motorola's first heavy-hitter since the RAZR, it looks as if they'll be close behind in enjoying the spoils. According to a Motorola spokesperson quoted at Slashgear (full statement is past the break), the company is expecting the original Droid to get Android 2.2 "in the near future," though he / she wouldn't go so far as to provide specifics beyond that. Better still, the same person stated that Motorola is excited about Froyo in general, and it's "looking forward to integrating it on [the firm's] Android-based devices as [the software] is made available." We hate to read too deeply into anything, but "devices" sure gets our digits tingling.

FCC task force seeks to squash ‘bill shock,’ give you the 411 on impending overages
Posted on May 11, 2010 | No CommentsCall us crazy, but it seems as if the FCC has been earning its keep of late, and the toiling continues today with an effort meant to address "bill shock." For those unaware, bill shock is a phenomena on par with bitter beer face in terms of significance, and it typically occurs when you accidentally roam internationally, text well beyond your monthly limit or burn through your minutes within the first week of your billing period. 'Course, some would argue that you -- as a functioning human being -- should keep tabs on how often you use your own mobile, but we wouldn't kvetch with a heads-up here and there so long as these alerts are cheap and easy to implement. As of today, the Consumer Task Force is listening for solutions, and while some carriers already ping you when you leave the country and are about to incur severe roaming charges, that practice is far from uniform. Too bad such a service would essentially nix your ability to play the ignorance card when you get back from that jaunt to Mexico, eh?Continue reading FCC task force seeks to squash 'bill shock,' give you the 411 on impending overages

“Universal Packaging System” concept misses the point
Posted on April 20, 2010 | No Comments
In theory Patrick Sung's new design concept sounds good. A sheet of cardboard, perforated in such a way to make it easy to wrap around an item, all the time protecting it from damage during shipment. But that's where the good idea fails. Plus, I doubt the United Parcel Service will let him use their logo.

Shock: Graphics being equal, Crysis 2 said to run better on PS3 than Xbox 360 (but best on PC)
Posted on April 16, 2010 | No CommentsIt was only a few days ago that Crytek and EA showed off Crysis 2 to the world's gaming press—and CrunchGear. It looks crazy, yes, and that finely tuned opinion—"it looks crazy"—is based on the Xbox 360 version. But if we believe Crytek's business development boss, then the game runs even better on the PS3 than it does the Xbox 360. The games may look identical, or extraordinarily close to it, but the Xbox 360 is being pushed far harder than the PS3. You probably already knew that, yes.
