Posted on June 22, 2010 | No CommentsOh, you thought AT&T was the only one getting a custom, branded version of the Samsung’s Galaxy S Android superphone? Nope! T-Mobile’s getting one as well — albeit one that’s not quite as easy on the eyes. CellPhone Signal just unearthed a pretty monstrous heap of details on ol T-Mo’s version of the Galaxy S. Cut My SIM does as its name commands
Posted on June 4, 2010 | No CommentsIn case you haven't noticed, all the cool kids are using Micro SIMs nowadays. But help is at hand if you're stuck with an old and busted Module, thanks to this stainless steel SIM trimmer. Painfully simple to use, it accepts old school chips, smashes down on them with the full force of modernity, and spits out an appropriately streamlined Micro SIM. But wait, you can reverse the modification too -- just use the included "back to normal" kit to turn back time and restore compatibility with your dated gear. The first batch of 500 has already sold out, but the next is expected to ship by the end of this month at a price of $25 or just under €20, depending on where you reside. What else do you need, a written invitation?Cut My SIM does as its name commands originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 04 Jun 2010 15:28:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

Nokia taps into developing markets by offering two dual-sim phones
Posted on June 3, 2010 | No Comments
Today in Nairobi, Kenya, Nokia officially unveiled their first two dual-SIM phones. Well, strictly speaking, they unveiled one double-SIM phone (the C1-00), and one dual-SIM phone (the C2). The difference being that the C2 can receive texts and calls on both SIMs at the same time, while the C1-00 has to toggle between them.
Both phones are targeted at developing markets (where having more than one SIM card is more common, as it means being able to take advantage of cheaper call rates for different situations), and as such, are cheap as all get up: €30 for the C1-00, and €45 for the C2.

How to create your own Micro SIM card using a chef knife and some scissors
Posted on May 6, 2010 | No CommentsWe told you you could shave down your old and busted SIM cards and turn them into minty fresh Micro SIMs, didn't we? An industrious Londoner by the name of John Benson has gone and proven that concept with the help of some cutting implements and an original Micro SIM to use as a reference. His saintly patience resulted in his being able to negotiate the Vodafone SIM you see above into his iPad 3G (imported from the USA) and riding the waves of Voda's network as if Apple never decided to encumber its portable device with a silly new standard. The 3FF (Micro) SIMs and the bulkier original ones are electrically identical, so there's no threat of harm by using them interchangeably, though we can't say the same thing about the tools that get you there. As always, we advise trying to rope someone else into doing the work for you -- less chance of hurting yourself that way. Hit the source for more.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 soars past $1 billion in retail sales
Posted on January 13, 2010 | No CommentsRemember back a couple months? The biggest news on Earth was the Infinity Ward and Activision Blizzard screwed up MW2 and the game was going to fall into a bucket of fail. There were boycotts, petitions, and general chaos concerning the shooter. Then it launched. Then people started playing it in droves. Then people shut-up and within two months the title surpassed $1,000,000,000 in retail sales.

It’s a bit unlikely that EA Mobile can deliver either of the first two, but they’ve come through on that last one. From today through 11/29, EA Mobile is dropping the price on around 15 of the iPhone games, with discounts coming [...] -
Keepin’ it real fake, part CCXL: HTC Hero gets iPhone flair
Posted on November 9, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, Others, GSM
It's just like the old riddle: what looks like a Hero, thinks it's an iPhone, and does double-duty as an old-school FM handheld? Why, it's the TVG3 -- and when combined with some prototypical shanzhai flair, its (con)fusion of attributes from all over the cellphone space make this one a stunning exemplar of KIRFness. Behold! 3.2-inch touchscreen, G-sensor (aka gyroscope), dual sims, Bluetooth, WiFi, built-in TV tuner, HTC looks and an almost-iPhone UI: not bad for $130, eh? In case you won't be in Shenzhen any time soon, you can get a closer look after the break.

Whether you love the Sims franchise or not, the PC version is $30 (today only). That's $10 off just about everywhere else. My particular household is in a love/hate relationship with the game. I hate that I get sucked into it and my wife loves to make fun of me for playing it.

Alice and Kev, the homeless Sims
Posted on June 17, 2009 | No CommentsIn what may be one of the most heart-breaking Sims-related experiments in a long time, Robin Burkinshaw created two Sims, Kev and his daughter Alice. They live in a house that looks like a park and live on free meals from work and school. They sleep on park benches. Alice is kind-hearted and a little [...]
