HTC Aria for AT&T hands-on
Posted on June 15, 2010 | No CommentsWe just took delivery of AT&T's brand new Aria from HTC, and we have to say, we're kind of tickled -- with the hardware, anyway. It's hard not to smile at the HD Mini-esque design elements, including the faux screws on back, the wild yellow interior, and... well, just the overall mini-ness of it. Seriously, this is a tiny phone; that means that eschewing WVGA in favor of HVGA isn't an issue, but it also means that effectively using the on-screen keyboard could be. On that note, the jury's still out on whether this phone is any good for day-to-day use -- and whether it has any chops as a legit Android device -- but stay tuned for our review coming up!

For women only: Sony’s Cyber-shot DSC-W530D
Posted on April 5, 2010 | No Comments
Sony Japan today announced [JP] a new digital camera that's specifically geared towards women. Technically speaking, the DSC-W530D isn't really a new device (it was unveiled earlier this year in Japan and is available for $200 in the US, too). But Sony changed the design to (possibly) make the Cyber-shot more appealing to female customers.

Video: Spy + Pyro = ???
Posted on February 14, 2010 | No CommentsForgive me, I’m back on TF2 after a short stint playing Borderlands and Dead Space. (the latter is super lame, btw) But this cartoon is not only absolutely genius, it’s also very appropriate as today’s Valentine’s Day. Trust me, stick with the video until the end. It will certainly bring a smile to your face [...] -
Please take our reader survey
Posted on February 5, 2010 | No CommentsTwo things. First of all: No, the image has absolutely nothing to do with the post. It was between “Stock photo of a bunch of survey check boxes” and this picture of a cat with a human smile – which would you have chosen? Second: Please take this reader survey. We’re working on some awesome new [...] -

Cell phone charger wheel of karma alive and well in the hotel industry
Posted on January 22, 2010 | No Comments
You’ve left your cell phone charger at a hotel, right? At least once. Plenty of frequent travelers leave their chargers behind all… the… time.
If you’ve forgotten various phone and mobile device chargers in the past, you are entitled to partake in the wheel of karma known as the lost and found box at your nearest hotel. You can defer your participation to a later date or use it right away. Up to you.

Nissan’s “Smiling Vehicle” shows emotions (video)
Posted on January 11, 2010 | No Comments
It seems the car industry doesn't have any problems left that need to be solved. Or what else can explain Nissan's shot at designing a car that can "show emotions"? The so-called Smiling Vehicle was jointly developed by the Hara Design Institute Nippon Design Center and the automaker. And yes, the mini vehicle, based on the Nissan Cube, does look friendly.
The concept car is covered with a substance called ROICA, a polyurethane elastomer fiber from major chemical company Asahi Kasei. ROICA has the ability to deform by up to 900% and is normally used for producing shoes, clothes or car seats. Combine the material with Animatronics, and you get a car grill that can actually "smile".

Sprint says webOS 1.3.5 is hitting the Pre today
Posted on December 28, 2009 | No Comments
Well, lookie here: it's not up on Palm's support site yet, but Sprint is showing a release date of December 28 -- that's today, by the way -- for webOS 1.3.5 on the Pre. This is a pretty nifty little upgrade, you might recall -- nifty enough to get none other than CEO Jon Rubinstein to name-drop it during the company's most recent earnings call -- thanks to the removal of the platform's troublesome app storage limit, better performance, better battery life (particularly in weak cell coverage), and a host of bugfixes sure to put a smile on your pretty face. Let us know how those updates go, alright?

The Archos 2 Vision doesn’t look that great in person
Posted on August 21, 2009 | No Comments
A product shot appeared a few days ago of the Archos 2 Vision. It looked nice. But the French site ArchosLounge.net recently got some face time with the upcoming PMP and, well, it doesn't look that great anymore. The original press shot looked slick and smooth, but this hands-on shot makes it looks like a no-name Chinese player. It's an Archos so it probably runs great, but I hope I'm not the only one disappointed with the design.

Sprint continues to lose money, customers
Posted on July 29, 2009 | No Comments
It seems the Palm Pre is too little, too late for Sprint. According to Sprint's Q2 financials for 2009, they've lost nearly $400 million dollars, and "total wireless customers declined by approximately 257,000." It's not all doom-and-gloom, though! Sprint can smile about "18 consecutive months of improvement in Customer Care Satisfaction and First Call Resolution"!

Oh how we love the Internet. This review of the now-classic Frogger was first published in issue number 24 of Compute! in 1983. It's a fantastic look back to the simple times when Atari ruled the gaming world.
