Pink Sony Vaio prompts question: who buys pink gadgets?
Posted on June 23, 2010 | No CommentsLook, it’s a pink Sony Vaio. Amazing, right? No, no it’s not. Can anyone answer this question: why do companies think that by making an otherwise unremarkable item PINK that women will AUTOMATICALLY want it? Silly. -
The Kindle won
Posted on June 22, 2010 | No CommentsI’ve been thinking this for a long while: Amazon won the ereader war. They were first to market – not officially, but in terms of mindshare, they offer a software package that is compelling on almost every mobile and desktop platform, and they have an entrenched user base already invested in their product. Nothing else [...] -
Sony Ericsson X10 Mini teardown reveals densely packed, tiny hardware
Posted on June 22, 2010 | No CommentsThe crew at iFixit were jonesing for something to disassemble recently, and Sony Ericsson's X10 Mini seems to have been the nearest thing they could lay hand and screwdriver upon. We'll admit HTC has us kind of spoiled with the colorful interiors of its phones, so we were a little underwhelmed by the demureness of the X10 Mini. Everything is packed into the utilitarian logic board, and although you get to decouple the screen and antenna assembly, it's still mostly a thick slab of highly integrated technology. Still, if you want to see a Qualcomm MSM7227 all naked and exposed to the elements, this is your chance. The source link contains all the intimate photography you could wish for.Sony Ericsson X10 Mini teardown reveals densely packed, tiny hardware originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 22 Jun 2010 06:26:00 EST. Sony PlayStation Move Charging Station: $29, charges two Move controllers simultaneously
Posted on June 16, 2010 | No Comments
Buried in the depth's of Sony's online archives were these photos of the PlayStation Move Charging Station, a device we don't remember seeing at the big E3 booth. Or maybe we're blind. In any event: the Charging Station, as the name implies, charges your Move controllers. Up to two at a time, too.

Time to make your “Move” and pre-order Sony’s latest gadget
Posted on June 16, 2010 | No Comments
Good news Sony fans, turns out that it's time to start warming up that credit card and ordering your PS3 Move controller. It's starting to show up as being available for pre-order (along with a few other tasty bits). Remember it'll be officially available in the US on September 19th, but you might want to pre-order since Sony kind of has a habit of running out of product when they first come out.

Sony Ericsson’s 3-inch Xperia X8 made official, coming in Q3 2010 for €259
Posted on June 16, 2010 | No CommentsWhile the real Shakira may be busy gallivanting over in South Africa, Sony Ericsson's handset that bore the same (code)name has today been unveiled as the latest member of the Xperia line. Bridging the gap between the fully formed X10 and its Mini siblings, the 3-inch Xperia X8 will run Android 1.6 somewhere deep underneath a comprehensively customized skin. That means you get Sony Ericsson's social (Timescape) and media (Mediascape) aggregators whether you like them or not, and by the looks of the early hands-on pictures, it seems like a straight port of the UI available on the X10 Mini. A 3.2 megapixel camera is available around back, with WiFi, a 600MHz CPU, 1,200mAh battery, and interchangeable covers completing the value proposition. The X8 will cost around €259 ($318) when it launches in the third quarter of this year. Hit the sources for more pictures.Continue reading Sony Ericsson's 3-inch Xperia X8 made official, coming in Q3 2010 for €259

E3 is all about Nintendo and Sony today
Posted on June 15, 2010 | No CommentsMicrosoft had their dog and pony show yesterday. Project Natal got a proper name and is now called Kinect and the Xbox 360 is now a bit smaller and quieter. In retrospect, there really wasn’t anything all that special announced. Hopefully that won’t happen today. Now it’s Nintendo’s and Sony’s turn. Nintendo is up first at [...] -
The Sony NEX-5 is available right now in the UK
Posted on June 15, 2010 | No Comments
Don't look now, but a UK retailer has the the brand-spanking-new Sony NEX-5 cameras in stock. We can't say that about a single US-based seller right now so this seems like the best bet if you must be the first kid on the block with Sony's latest camera. Of course this previledge comes at a premium as the camera is selling for £589 ($867), which is a tad more than the US's MSRP of $650. Worth it? Hells yeah it is! You're reading a gadget blog, what side do you expect us to endorse?

Up close with PS3 Move
Posted on June 15, 2010 | No Comments
Our own little Peter Ha had a great hands-on with the PS3 Move at Sony's HQ in California. Interestingly, Monsieur Ha believes "After seeing what Kinect is capable of, I'm 100% positive that Sony PlayStation Move has won this round."
