The Sony NEX-7 will bring 1080p recording later this year

You might want to hold off buying a Sony NEX-3 or NEX-5 camera for a bit. They might be the hotness right now, but it seems their big brother is right around the corner. The NEX-7 sounds awful nice.

Crazy powerful and magical? Where do I sign?

As I said before, I like me my iPad but the magical language has to go. This is the latest iPad commercial and it sounds more like a soliloquy from Easy Rider than a CE commercial, which I guess is Apples modus operandi. It also sounds like they’re using Gold Lion from the Yeah Yeah [...]

    Malware targeting iPad users

Uh oh, sounds like the tablet that Steve brought down from the mountain might be susceptible to attack. A recent campaign by malware spammers has been targeting users of the much hyped iPad, inviting users to download an updated and improved version of iTunes. The update promises to provide more compatibility and better performance, and is completely fake.

Peek’s Project Big Stuff revealed as software update

Well this is boring. At least it sounds boring. Peek announced a few weeks back that the company was working on some big stuff. Like, legitimately big stuff. Now we hear by way of the WSJ that this so-called Project Big Stuff is just a software update. It better be a damn big software update to keep our attention.

  • “Universal Packaging System” concept misses the point

“Universal Packaging System” concept misses the point

In theory Patrick Sung's new design concept sounds good. A sheet of cardboard, perforated in such a way to make it easy to wrap around an item, all the time protecting it from damage during shipment. But that's where the good idea fails. Plus, I doubt the United Parcel Service will let him use their logo.

New Xbox 360 bundle incoming? Smaller, 250GB HDD, Project Natal built-in.

Full credit to Microsoft: it's still got people paying top-dollar for its nearly five-year-old Xbox 360. It's gonna need to sweeten the deal, though, to keep people a-buyin'. Like, say, a new bundle? Maybe a bundle with a thinner 360 and built-in Project Natal? Sounds about right.

HP Slate specs leak, get compared the iPad

Uh oh! Sounds like someone is going to be in trouble. The word is out on the probable spec and pricing on the HP Slate, and HP is definitely aware of the iPad. Obviously an internal document, it's very interesting to see exactly what HP considers a threat, and what they consider to be an advantage.

T-Mobile: Give up your iPhone and we’ll give you $350 off an HD2

It’s 6:30 am. The Alarm app on your iPhone screams to life, the handset vibrating across the table. You grab it before it shuffles off the edge. You stare at the screen. It stares back. “It’s 6:30 AM! Snooze?”, it says through a fake, one-tooth grin. “I hate you, iPhone. I wish you were an HD2.” If [...]

The $65 Creation Tech netbook. You know it’s going to be great!

I'm not sure how useful this will be, but it sounds interesting. Chinese manufacturer Creation Tech is selling a 7 inch ultra mobile PC for $65. The specs aren't very impressive, but for that kind of money what do you expect?

    SPLORT FART: DIY Atari noises

Dear pre-teens: Want to piss off your parents? Buy and build this thing. It's a mini Atari-esque noise generator that fits inside an Altoids tin (not included.) While it makes noises like the Atari 2600 used to, it does not make "sounds" per se, in that said sounds could be pleasing to the ear. These are definitely not. It's only $25 and it's totally DIY. It also sounds like you're squeezing a gerbil through a clothes press.

Video: This is easily the coolest thing I’ve seen an iPhone do this week.

You hear that sound? That's the sound of my mind being blown. When the folks over in Cupertino strapped a little speaker to the bottom of the iPhone and released an SDK, do you think that any of them thought "Oh, people are totally going to use this to make apps that can push little Styrofoam balls around a fake soccer field." Yeah, probably not. But sure enough, people have.

Wobble iBoobs jiggles its way out of the Apple app store

It’s no surprise that Apple’s approval and rejection process for iPhone apps can be completely arbitrary and often asinine. Take Wobble iBoobs, for instance: the application has been on the market for several months and has even earned about $300,000 in sales, but after Apple “recently received numerous complaints” from customers, the app was pulled.
