NEC to ship Blu-ray powered 3D PC in Japan next month
Posted on May 27, 2010 | 1 CommentValuestar N VN790/BS - that's the name of the 3D PC that NEC today announced [JP] for the Japanese market. The company's faster than expected: just last month, NEC teased such a machine in Tokyo, saying it's likely to ship by October 2010. But Japan will get the PC as early as next month. Videos: Super-mobile rescue robot Quince
Posted on May 4, 2010 | No Comments
This is one of the coolest rescue robots I've ever seen. Meet Quince, jointly developed by Japan's International Rescue System Institute, Tohoku University and the Chiba Institute Of Technology. The eight-wheeled robot may not look like much, but it's actually very impressive when you see it in action.
Quince is supposed to help humans during "CBRN"-type emergencies (it can be used in the case of chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear disasters). The robot is sized at 655mmx481mmx225mm, weighs 26.4kg and can move as fast as 1.6m/s.

Garmin nüvi 3700 series part of the pre-crime unit
Posted on April 19, 2010 | No CommentsI think the standalone GPS device is all but dead – I’m a pessimist that way and I know that your parents and mine both use standalone GPSes but that’s because we never showed them how to use the ones on their phones – but Garmin is still churning out some nice-looking models. The Nexus One car dock is finally pictured [Update: And on sale!]
Posted on April 6, 2010 | No CommentsBoy have we been waiting for this one -- since January 14, actually. As it turns out, too, the backside of the dock we spied a few weeks back is actually the official dock. But it just doesn't hold the phone in place, it also has built-in speakers, volume controls, and the goods need to charge the Nexus One. That's pretty much everything we wanted. It even auto-launches the Car Home app upon docking the phone in place.
Best Buy's bargain brand,
Last month, we've shown you a
