Exclusive: Samsung Captivate for AT&T preview
Posted on June 22, 2010 | No CommentsAT&T may have been accused of crippling its Android phones, but the Samsung Captivate -- one of the US versions of the Galaxy S -- is about to change all of that. Oh sure, the company released the specs last week, but us resourceful folk got some hands-on time with the Super AMOLED-boasting, Android 2.1 phone prior to its unknown stateside launch. The model we got to play with was clearly an early build (it wasn't even branded Samsung or AT&T), but that didn't stop us from putting it through the paces at a local Starbucks. Hit the break for a bulleted breakdown of our impressions and a short hands-on video. Oh, and don't forget to make a pit stop at the gallery below before getting into the good stuff.Continue reading Exclusive: Samsung Captivate for AT&T preview

Apple launches ‘Find My iPhone’ app to remotely wipe and find your lost treasure
Posted on June 18, 2010 | No CommentsStay with us here because this one isn't obvious. Apple just launched its Find My iPhone app on the iTunes App Store -- a service previously limited to MobileMe's web interface. The App will find your iPhone or iPad or iPod touch should it be lost or stolen. So obviously, you don't install it on your lost/stolen device, you install it on a different iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, yours or somebody else's (try a Starbucks). Panicked owners can then login with their MobileMe account to map their missing property and then remotely lock the device or wipe the data. The App can only be installed on iOS 3.1.3 or later devices and is available now for free.

This came from the official @starbucks Twitter account so either someone hacked them or this is the dog's honest truth. -
Steam has many deals for you to peruse
Posted on November 27, 2009 | No CommentsInterrupting your Thanksgiving Day weekend (and my Team Fortress 2 Sniper marathon) with a quick deal that will appeal to many of you (I should hope). You know Steam, right, Valve's digital distribution deal? There's a crazy, multi-day Black Friday sale going on right now that includes Left 4 Dead 2 at $37.99 (25 percent off the regular price) and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for $2.49 (75 percent off the regular price). A vanilla bullshit at Starbucks costs more than that.

The iPhone: Helping you find medical marijuana since 2009
Posted on July 20, 2009 | No CommentsI'd still rather eat glass than use an iPhone, let alone buy one, but this app at least made me laugh. It's called Cannabis, and helps you locate the nearest (100 percent legal) medical marijuana location in 13 states (plus Europe), as supplied by the iMedicalCannabis.org.

A prime example of why we need portable DTV
Posted on July 16, 2009 | No CommentsLook at this dude. He wants some TV while he’s enjoying a cup at Starbucks. The only thing is that the switch to digital now requires him to carry a converter box alongside his black and white tube TV. If only the powers at hand could move along the development and approval of ATSC-M/H, he [...] -

Now that Starbucks has at least one store on every corner, where are they to go? To the iPhone, of course. In true Starbucks fashion, they're not rolling out just one app - oh, no! They've got two apps. Next thing you know, there will be a Starbucks app within your Starbucks app, fighting tooth and nail to bring in more than the Starbucks app across the street.
The first app, myStarbucks, is essentially an iPhone port of their
