Posted on June 22, 2010 | No CommentsT-minus one month and counting till the release of StarCraft II, and we're starting to see officially branded peripherals hit the store shelves. Here's one such peripheral: the SteelSeries StarCraft II Limited Edition Zboard. As the name suggests, it's based on the company's Z Board, except, you know, StarCraft-ified.

Blizzard: DRM is a waste of everyone’s time
Posted on May 27, 2010 | No Comments"We need our development teams focused on content and cool features, not anti-piracy technology." Thank you, finally! See, Blizzard gets it. The company's co-founder, Frank Pearce, recently told the good folks at Video Gamer that he thinks the fight against DRM is misguided. Not that he supports end-users going around torrenting his games till the end of time, but that the way to "beat" piracy is to embrace gamers and treat them like complete jerks.

There will be a collector’s edition of StarCraft II
Posted on April 8, 2010 | No CommentsBlizzard just announced, via fancy e-mail, that there will, indeed, be a collector's edition of StarCraft II, whenever it comes out. (No, Blizzard has not announced a release date yet, but says it will "soon.") Anyhow, the collector's edition will come with a 176-page art book, a USB thumb drive loaded with the original StarCraft and its expansion pack Brood War, a behind-the-scenes DVD, a CD soundtrack, a comic book, and a World of Warcraft in-game pet, plus other bonus downloadable content (aesthetic stuff, not like mega-powerful guns or anything). Total cost: $99.

Yeah, Cataclysm will come out this year
Posted on February 11, 2010 | No CommentsIt's earnings call season, and while no news is more shocking than the fact that WWE will drop the Survivor Series, there's something for World of Warcraft fans. And, really, who isn't a fan of World of Warcraft. Anyhow, yeah, Cataclysm will come out this year. We've (and by "we" I mean the WoW community) pretty much assumed as much since the expansion was first announced, but now the money men have made it official.

Here’s a LEGO Starcraft Terran Battlecruiser
Posted on December 30, 2009 | No CommentsSure, this isn’t the largest or most impressive LEGO ship out there, but it still cooler than anything you could build. Check out Jerac’s Flickr set to see the construction and other just-as-nice LEGO creations. [Thanks for the tip, Scott!] -
No, Blizzard doesn’t hate your console, leaves open the possibility of developing console games
Posted on December 21, 2009 | No Comments
Oh, look, I'm taking a single remark from a lengthy interview and making an entire post about it. It concerns Blizzard, the famed developer of World of Warcraft and Diablo. You may think of Blizzard as a PC developer, but that ignores games like The Lost Vikings. Anyhow, Blizzard has said in an interview with Gamasutra, which always does good stuff, that it is not averse to making a console game in the future, just that it needs to be the right game.

Starcaft 2 Video: Lost Temple battle
Posted on October 19, 2009 | No CommentsThis video brings back terrible memories of me getting massacred. I used to play quick Starcraft pickup games during boring MCSE lectures back in school. There was this guy in my class that happened to be a bigger nerd than I and the only way he knew how to win was with massive Dragooon armies. [...] -
Advice: If your Internet connection drops out while playing an online game, don’t stab a random person
Posted on October 12, 2009 | No CommentsOh, dear. We've all been there: you're playing your favorite game online, and then WHAM-O~! you lose your Internet connection. The usual course of action is to mutter “Gosh darn it” to your self, then go about your business. An unusual course of action is to grab a knife, then stab a random person walking in the street. Apparently that has happened, yes.

Is it at all possible to hibernate till World of Warcraft: Cataclysm comes out?
Posted on August 23, 2009 | No CommentsIt was only a few days ago that I gently chided Apple fans, telling them to “hold their horses” with respect to Snow Leopard's release date. One Blizzcon later, not only have I re-rolled another character (a Warlock), I'm now trolling message boards, comment pages, and the like looking for more and more information about Cataclysm, the upcoming expansion pack. The most important bit of information still eludes me: its release date.
