Apparently Nintendo has yet to announce the formal name of its upcoming portable 3D gaming device. That means the clever 3DS name we've come to know isn't the real thing. But seriously, is there a name better than 3DS seeing as it's a 3D version of the DS? Unless it's nothing like the DS...maybe this wasn't a fan-made mock-up after all.

This strange app is a touchscreen interface that connects people, places, and things using "clouds" of items and people. It basically makes Venn diagrams of your contacts and allows you to share and explore content and messages.

This looks way too weird for the average user but clearly someone out there may want to move Sven and Nikola to a timeline and figure out which emails came from each person and which emails overlap.

The text input system is actually quite cool, however, because it predicts the words you're about to type. Pop over to 4 minutes in to see how that system works.

I don't know what it is about Japan and earphones, but this country does offer some unique ones. Today, it wasn't some weird little company but Pioneer that announced strange earphones: One is cherry-shaped [JP], the other looks like a piece of a leather belt [JP] for some reason.

Acer isn't showing any signs of slowing down at Mobile World Congress this week. Just this morning, the manufacturer announced the Liquid e and now we have the neoTouch and beTouch. A little strange with the name scheme, but let's see just what these devices are packing, shall we?

Everybody knows Japan loves them vending machines. And even though machines selling panties don't exist over here, you can still find strange models from time to time. Case in point: A hamburger vending machine in Tokyo [JP] that sells one burger at a time because it's operated manually.

Ah - another day, another Android rumor. As Android fleshes itself out into the torrential go-to OS for smartphone manufacturers that we've all hoped it would, we can expect to see more and more Android rumors rambling about. In other words,

According to TheUnlockr, the phone you're looking at above is none other than HTC's first Snapdragon-powered Android phone, the Passion for Verizon. That seems a bit strange for a couple of reasons:

Last night, a bunch of strange tips slammed our inbox, all talking about the Motorola Sholes (otherwise known as the Tao, or more recently, the Verizon Motorola Droid.) "Motorola just tried to sneak the Sholes through the FCC!" they read, highlighting the fact that in this recent report, Motorola only mentions Sholes by name once - and it's about as subtle of a mention as can be. But that, in itself, isn't what seemed strange. What was strange was that the Motorola Sholes already cleared the FCC last month, in Verizon-ready CDMA form.

So we looked a bit closer, and sure enough, there they were: GSM frequencies.

For some reason, Japan has a thing for strange alarm clocks. Think of the helicopter clock, the Gun o' clock or the railroad sign clock, for example. And now major Japanese toymaker Banpresto follows up with an alarm clock that has the characteristics of a traffic light [link leads to Amazon Japan, the company hasn't set up a dedicated site for the gadget yet].
