Yes! Another Ron and Fez Twitter party, this time for The Oscars!

Ron and Fez, the fantastic Sirius XM radio show that makes my day every day, will host the world's first second Twitter party on Sunday! It's a follow-up to last month's Super Bowl Halftime Show Twitter Party, which was pretty much a gigantic success. What's being celebrated this time around? The Oscars (gi gi gi)! It gets even better: a live radio show will actually accompany the Twitter party. I'm excited.

AT&T wants to make sure your iPhone works at SXSW

Anyone who's been to SXSW in the past few years, ever since the iPhone's release, knows that the AT&T network absolutely explodes during the festival. Texts, if they ever make it through, take hours; calls are dropped at an alarming rate, even by AT&T standards; and Internet access is essentially impossible. It's hard for AT&T to keep up because Austin, any other week of the year, isn't absolutely flooded with iPhone users mucking about, asking where the Facebook party is, or if they're on the list for the Gawker party. (I'm on the list, but I'm not going this year so it doesn't matter.) The point is, AT&T has its hands full that week, so let's give them an A for effort for trying to prevent another iPhone meltdown this year.

Ron and Fez’s Twitter party, the world’s first, was a huge success

Last night's Super Bowl was pretty amazing. That seems to be the general reaction, at least. But you know what was just as amazing, if not more amazing? The Ron & Fez Twitter party, which I'm pretty sure was the very first organized Twitter party in history. Is there a FourSquare for that?

TiVo sez Doritos commercial was the biggest hit in the Super Bowl

Thanks to TiVo, we have a pretty good idea of what the most popular commercials from last night's Super Bow. Survey says: that Doritos commercial with the little kid telling his mom's date to keep his hands off his mother (fat chance!) and off his Doritos. America is a peculiar little country, isn't it, cheese-flavored chips and light beer as far as the eye can see.

Megan Fox introduces Motorola DEVOUR and looks face-slappingly good

For me, the best part of the Super Bowl is the commercials. And after you see this one, you may have to agree. Just note that you'll have to play the video several times over before you realize there's a phone there - the Motorola DEVOUR with MOTOBLUR, to be exact. So, what happens when Megan Fox uses her DEVOUR to send out a hot, wet image via a social network?

CrunchDeals: 50 piece Chicken McNuggets bucket for $10 this weekend

Now THAT is a lot of Chicken McNuggets. Like, so many that the Hamburglar might actually consider a) switching briefly to chicken instead of hamburgers and b) paying the $10 instead of going to all the trouble of trying to conceal a gigantic bucket of chicken under his cape. And just to give you a head [...]

    I’m Linux, you’re Linux, we’re all Linux!

I've been a full-time Linux user since 1999. I've been an advocate for Linux and Free Software for most of that time. My advocacy efforts usually stay within my social group, or at FreeGeek Columbus, though occasionally I'll use my posts here to support the penguin. Linux, as an open source project developed by an ad-hoc group of people, often with competing agendas, has succeeded without much mainstream advertising. Microsoft had their laptop shopper commercials, and Apple has had their wildly successful "I'm a Mac" commercials, but there have been few Linux commercials. In the open source style of Linux development, now's your chance to change that state of affairs!

  • Motorola buys Super Bowl ad spot

Motorola buys Super Bowl ad spot

Looks like Motorola's fully back in the game: not only does it have the hottest Android device you can (currently) buy in the Droid, word today is that the company's dished out somewhere between $2.5 and $3 million for at least one Super Bowl commercial. It's been a while since Motorola last spent so lavishly on an ad campaign, so we're super curious to see what device the ad is for -- the safe bet is obviously the Droid, but CES could bring both the AT&T-destined Backflip and Sholes Tablet, so it's all up in the air. Our main hope? The return of HELLO MOTO.

Video: Hackers give Palm Treo 650 an Android brain

Man - do you remember 2004? Gwen Stefani was off doing her solo thing, Hillary Swank was busting her neck in Million Dollar Baby (OMG SPOILER ALERT!), and Janet Jackson showed part of her breast to everyone watching the Super Bowl. Twas a simpler time - a time when the Palm Treo 650 was brand new. 5 years later, the Treo 650 now ranks somewhere between "relic" and "fossil" smartphone timeline - but with age comes wisdom, right? In this case, "wisdom" comes in the form of the Android-operating system, bestowed upon the 650 by a couple of clever chaps. I'd be surprised if everything is fully functioning - but hey, it boots!

  • GSM Palm Pre to launch on Telcel in Mexico, feature storage expansion?

GSM Palm Pre to launch on Telcel in Mexico, feature storage expansion?

Well, this is interesting: we'd been under the impression that Telefonica had pretty much wrapped up a global exclusive on the GSM Palm Pre under the O2 and Movistar brands, but here we are, looking at two videos which claim that the Pre will launch in Mexico under rival América Móvil's Telcel label. That's certainly interesting -- and even more intriguingly, we're told that the gentlemen in this video are discussing storage expansion slots on the Pre, which is basically like having a conversation about Santa winning the Super Bowl in terms of Things That Are Real. Did Telcel just manage to pull the rug out from under Movistar and land what could be the best Pre of them all? We're on pins and needles, here. Videos after the break -- and if anyone wants to leave a better translation for us in comments, we're all ears.
