Zero Punctuation doesn’t really like New Super Mario Bros. Wii or Left 4 Dead 2
Posted on December 9, 2009 | No CommentsJust in case you find yourself on crunchgear.com and not escapistmagazine.com, here’s Zero Punctuation’s review of New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Left 4 Dead 2. He’s fairly critical of both, as is his wont. -
Video: Emulated New Super Mario Bros. in 1080p makes us want Wii HD even more
Posted on December 2, 2009 | No CommentsThis here is a video of New Super Mario Bros. Wii in 1080p, thanks to the wonders of emulation. (I had completely forgotten about the Dolphin emulator!) If there were ever a reason for Nintendo get off its backside and fully commit to the Wii HD, this is it. You really ought to go to YouTube [...] -
Nokia busted for showing off an SNES emulator on the N900

If you were a hardware manufacturer and your new phone was a ROMist's delight you'd be all like "Our phone plays Doom and totally plays Super Mario Bros. 3." Right? You'd be bragging from here to Scranton.

A collection of reasonably priced Xbox 360 games
Posted on November 23, 2009 | No CommentsThis is the worst time to be a gamer. Yeah, it's great that so many good games have come out recently (take your pick from New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed II, Left 4 Dead 2, etc.), but it's pretty difficult to shell out $60+ every other day in the span of two weeks.

Rallying around the idea of a North American Nintendo Wii on-demand video service
Posted on November 19, 2009 | No CommentsIt must be pretty darn easy being an analyst at one of those fancy Wall Street firms. Take this story, that Nintendo may well launch an on-demand video service for the Wii here in North America next year. Japan's Nikkei reported the same thing nearly two months ago, but it's only now that someone at Lazard Capital Markets has officially predicted such a store for the North American market.

Braving the weather to see New Super Mario Bros. Wii at the Nintendo World Store
Posted on November 15, 2009 | No CommentsNew Super Mario Bros. Wii hits stores today, and it will probably be on of the biggest games of the year. (Little Tommy and Little Susie shouldn't be playing Modern Warfare 2!) To celebrate the launch of this latest Mario game, Nintendo invited its fans to the Nintendo World Store in New York yesterday. In addition to being able to buy the game a whole day early, fans could participate in a Mario tournament, get their picture taken in Mario garb, play the older games in the series, and meet Gary and Alison from Nintendo Week.

What’s the bigger seller: New Super Mario Bros. Wii or Modern Warfare 2?
Posted on November 11, 2009 | No CommentsSo by now you probably already have Modern Warfare 2, have beaten the single-player mode (cheap shot!), and have been killed within three seconds of re-spawning in multi-player mode more times than you'd care to admit. Great, good for you. Something that has been taken for granted, though, is that the game will be one of the best-selling games of the year, if not the best-selling. Hold your horses, partner, because an Electronic Entertainment Design and Research analyst has said that New Super Mario Bros. Wii will well outsell Modern Warfare 2 when it's all said and done.

First review of New Super Mario Bros. Wii gives the game a 9.2 (and guess from who that number’s from!)
Posted on November 10, 2009 | No Comments
Super Mario Bros. Wii doesn't come out here in North America for another five days, but, for whatever reason, it comes out in Australia in two days! That explains why you can find the world's first review (nearest I can tell) on IGN Australia. The Web site gave the game a 9.2 (I swear, these decimal point reviews are 100 percent absurd), but I think it's safe to conclude that the game is, indeed, fun, which is really all you can ask for.

Bookies think Modern Warfare 2 will be the best seller this year
Posted on October 9, 2009 | No CommentsAnyone who has any doubts over what will be the best-selling video game this holiday season needs to check himself. It will absolutely be Modern Warfare 2. And while I can say that without anything real being put on the line, Irish bookie Paddy Power has given the game 8/13 odds as being the best-selling game.

Bweedly beep de beep beep! Super Mario played on a theremin
Posted on June 15, 2009 | No Comments
Nowhereelse found a video of a young man playing Super Mario Brothers with, of all things, a theremin. By moving his hands over the rods Mario jumps, moves, and twists. Think of it as Natal but for fans of old sci-fi movies and participants in Flaming Lips mass on-stage bacchanals.
this guy made possible to play Super Mario Bros (NES) with an old Theremin instrument! Two peoples can also play together, one controls left and right and the other controls jump. It's also possible to control the game with the voice or any sounds (with a microphone).
The
Remember the good old days when video game machines ALWAYS came with a free game? Sometimes even two! Nintendo had Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt, Sega had Hang On! and Astro Warrior. Well that gravy train ended a while ago but you can hop back on, today only, as Amazon is offering a free game or headset with the purchase of a white Nintendo DSi.
