Motorola Milestone becomes eXpansys UK’s ‘fastest selling gadget’
Posted on December 11, 2009 | No Comments
Call it a pent-up demand for WVGA Android devices, call it Droid jealousy, call it an unnatural love for the sweet, doughy goodness of a just-baked Eclair -- but whatever it is, early indications suggest that the British love their Milestones. Retailer eXpansys (which is big enough to actually produce some meaningful sales trend data, we suspect) is reporting that the just-launched Droid clone for GSM became "the fastest selling gadget in the website's 11 year history, even more successful than the iPhone" when it sold out inside of three hours on its site on top of the roughly 1,000 preorders they had taken prior to the 10th. This might be a case of double-speak -- we're trying to establish just how many phones were sold during those three hours, because what we really need is a sales rate, not a time span alone -- so we're cautioning Moto not to bust out the champagne glasses just yet, but it's certainly looking like a promising start. Schaumburg hasn't had a lot of success in Western Europe in recent years, of course, but if we can use eXpansys as a barometer here, we'd say that a little cautious optimism is well justified.Motorola Milestone becomes eXpansys UK's 'fastest selling gadget' originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 11 Dec 2009 13:59:00 EST. Feeling lonely? Bizarre Japanese CD lets 600 different girls say “I love you” to you
Posted on December 3, 2009 | No Comments
Does anybody remember the DVD I blogged that was supposed to cure shyness in geeks by letting them look at 50 different girls over a time span of 96 minutes? The girls would just sit there, not saying or doing anything. The idea was to make you get used to looking at pretty girls on the TV to overcome your shyness in real life.
That was last year. And now we have the Hougen CD [JP], which is more or less trying to do the same thing - but this time not with video but audio. In my view this CD, a real product you can buy, is even dumber than aforementioned DVD: What you get is a CD on which 600 different Japanese girls say "Daisuki!" or "Meccha Daisukiyanen!", which means "I love you!" in Japanese.

Playmesh Tops the Charts with #1 Game on the iPhone: iFarm downloaded 1 million times in 10 days
Posted on November 30, 2009 | No CommentsYou might find this suprising, but the top social gaming companies on the iPhone are not the same ones you know of from Facebook and MySpace. Zynga, despite $54.2M in funding, has hardly made a dent on the iPhone. Neither has Playfish, which was recently bought for $300M. Playdom hasn’t done squat, either. Although “the [...]
