US Cellular adds HTC Desire and BlackBerry Bold in August, teases BlackBerry 9670 for ‘later this year’
Posted on June 25, 2010 | No Comments
We were extremely close to cramping our sarcasm muscle with all the faux excitement we had to drum up for the 3.2-inch Acclaim, but US Cellular has now come back with word that it'll soon count HTC's Desire among its roster of phones. The Desire, which is mooted to be coming to other smaller carriers like Cellular South, will debut in August alongside the BlackBerry Bold. We're more excited, however, to find US Cellular promising it'll offer "a BlackBerry flip smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard" later this year. That sounds like RIM's slightly unorthodox 9670 to us, and will probably form the second part of the BB maker's pledged introduction of two new handsets. US Cellular's 2010 device lineup refresh will be completed with a pair more Androids, courtesy of LG and Samsung. The former is said to have a "large touch screen and slide-out, ergonomically-designed QWERTY keyboard," while the latter is only described as "highly-anticipated." Not too shabby.US Cellular adds HTC Desire and BlackBerry Bold in August, teases BlackBerry 9670 for 'later this year' originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 25 Jun 2010 05:41:00 EST. Get swyping: Swype for Android available now in English, Spanish and Italian
Posted on June 16, 2010 | No Comments
We told you this was coming: Swype has just made it possible for any Android handset owner to download their innovative touch-screen enabled text-input application straight from the website. Which means a whole lot of people can henceforth start challenging that Guinness World Record for speedy textin' using Swype.
Up until today, Swype came pre-installed on only a fraction of available Android phones (including the all new Motorola Droid X) due to its licensing business model, although the company did open up to 25,000 eager beta testers a couple of months ago - most of whom seem to have completely fallen in love with it.
Well, anyone can download it now, but only for a limited time (a couple of days) and with a somewhat limited feature set. Important: it won't work if you have a phone that came pre-installed with Swype and support will be via Swype's forums only.

After over a year of delays, promises, and waiting, we finally know what's going to be in the Eee Keyboard. Has it been too long? Is it too late for the poor keyboard that every wanted, but no one could get? Do we still care? I'll admit, I like it, but I may be in the minority.

What else comes to mind when you think about that phone? What do you feel like doing? If your answer to that last question was “play dodgeball”, then congratulations! You’re insane exactly [...] -

The idea, nearest I can tell (this is the first I’ve ever heard [...] -

By now we've all seen the
In case you’re having trouble keeping up with all these iPad wannabes, here are a few others we’ve written about:
I know I'm not alone in my lust for decent phones with QWERTY keypads.
While I've been thoroughly enjoying the company of my touch-screen-only HTC Hero for 7 months now, I must admit that I am looking at other (more well endowed) phones while Hero's back is turned.
But you know what? She's ok with that. I guess that's why we work so well together... even though I dream of the days where I could type without looking at the keyboard.
...and along comes Ally...
