Microsoft showing off transparent glass display technology during college tour
Posted on November 6, 2009 | No CommentsMicrosoft's research division is hitting the streets and hanging with the college crowd recently. This nationwide tour is showing off some sick technology in an effort that's probably, although I don't know for sure, aimed at making Microsoft look cool and hip to upcoming talent. The demos should do just that too. Think Tom Cruises's person computer from Minority Report combined with Tony Stark's toys from Iron Man.

Kodomo No Nomimono: Beer for kids
Posted on October 12, 2009 | No CommentsAfter a long, hard day of… playing with toys, watching cartoons, and napping, nothing spells refreshment like a frosty glass of Kodomo No Nomimono – a phrase which I can only assume means something close to "beer for kids" in Japanese.

CrunchDeals: It’s Bricktober!
Posted on October 4, 2009 | No Comments
The boy woke us up this morning with a flyer from Toys 'r' Us informing the world that this was Bricktober and that all Lego kits are 30%. What does this mean? Well, some crazy pirate ship now costs $70, down from $100. Isn't that still really expensive? Back when I was a kid Lego was free because you always inherited a huge bucket of it from someone. There was so much of it around you found it in your spoor. Sadly, this appears to be no longer the case.

RHEX: The hexapod robot
Posted on July 22, 2009 | No Comments
The RHEX is a general purpose six-legged robot that can right itself and climb stairs. It can walk, run, and creep at almost any speed and it's shown here clattering around on the floor and then climbing stairs. It appears the RHEX has been in the works for years but recently he's been modified for use in toys and military applications.

T-Mobile goes bonkers with the myTouch accessories
Posted on July 8, 2009 | No Comments
Ohhhh - so thats why T-Mobile ignored all of the good names, instead opting to call their HTC Magic the "myTouch": because they're working the customizability angle.
And boy, are they working it hard. At today's myTouch event, folks were given a USB stick with a little sneak-peek at what T-Mo had up their sleeve in terms of add-on toys.
