  • Enclose your tub in a fire truck so your kids don’t drown

Enclose your tub in a fire truck so your kids don’t drown

Look, I love my kids as much as they next guy, but do we really need a tub enclosure that fits right over your old, big tub designed to ensure that your wee ones are easier to grab when they're all lathered up? This $2,200 "tub extender" was part of a bathroom fixture trade show, a show that I believe CG should definitely cover next year. Basically it helps you by bringing the wee ones a big higher out of the tub but why not just wash them in the sink if you're having that big a problem?

Fujitsu shows off new prototype e-book reader

So fair warning, there’s not a whole lot of detail on this one. Fujitsu just showed off their latest e-book reader prototype at a trade show in Japan. It probably won’t hit the US, but expect to see it in Japan later this year. We’ll keep you informed when we get more information. [via Akihabara News]

    Mojito Stand-Alone Social Aggregator

I’m not sure if this is a must-have item for everyone, but I have to admit there is something interesting about Blue Lounge’s new device called the Mojito. Spied on the trade show floor at SXSW Interactive 2010, it is part of my post trip download. Certainly, the goal of the Mojito is to free you [...]

  • A look at Nepal’s equivalent of CES

A look at Nepal’s equivalent of CES

BB has some great images from Nepal’s CAN InfoTech, a 17-year-old tech trade show. It had 238 stalls where folks were flogging amazing 8TB hard drives and the three year old Nokia N81. It’s absolutely laudable that these guys are doing what they’re doing. Outside of Western Europe, CE manufacturers tend to ignore the rest of [...]

Two-week iMac rentals for $8.56 per day?

I noticed the fellas from PoketyPoke each carrying around an iMac box after the Digital Experience event at CES last week. “Wow, you guys really went all out,” said I. “Yeah,” said they, “Did you know you can rent an iMac for two weeks for $120?”

  • CEA boots small vendors out of Las Vegas hotels

CEA boots small vendors out of Las Vegas hotels

In the dog eat dog world of the CE business, margins are low and money - especially in this economy - is tight. That's why a number of smaller vendors, including some we talked to in Vegas, took rooms in local hotels or ran "peripheral" events in other venues. The Daily Tech reports that some of those vendors have been ousted by the hotels themselves after the CEA, the organization that runs CES, convinced management to force them out.

  • The Samsung NX-10, everyone

    The Samsung NX-10, everyone

We were totally jealous of that random dude that spotted the Samsung NX-10 at some random Korean trade show over the summer. Oh how we hated him. But many months later, we finally have a good look at the heavily-rumored Samsung NX-10. Too bad we don’t have any info on it. That will probably come [...]

Life-size MP5 submachine gun Wii controller

See that right there? That's a Wii peripheral. If not for the blaze orange tip, one might mistake it for an MP5 submachine gun. Spotted at a Hong Kong trade show by Pocket-lint, it’s “a 1:1 scale Heckler & Koch MP5 sub-machine gun for the Wii.”

Canon will not be attending PMA 2010

According to this weeks issue of Amateur Photographer, Canon will not be attending PMA 2010. The company is apparently shifting focus away from niche trade shows in order to focus shows like CES that reach more consumers. After all, that's the way Canon's products are going anyway. We've seen a huge shift in the last five years as the DSLR has moved from the prosumer market to clearly an everyday Joe-type camera. Sure, there will always be high-end products which could be showcased at shows like PMA, but money is tight for everyone including the photography giant and so they need to focus on shows with the furthest reach.

LG’s first Android handset spotted: Meet the Etna (Again)

Earlier this year, LG began offering a strange little QWERTY slider called the “Etna”. We didn’t hear much about the handset before or after launch (primarily because it was only available in the UK), but we don’t often forget a name. As such, we were quite surprised to find out that there is another device [...]

PS3 Slim, anyone? Sony just ordered a whole bunch of PS3 components

The rumors surrounding a possible PS3 Slim continue, annoyingly. DigiTimes, the paper of record when it comes to what's being manufactured in eastern Asia, says that Sony “has ordered enough parts to make one million consoles in the third quarter of this year, twice as many as in the last three months.” In other words, Sony just ordered an extraordinary amount of components.

Someone has seen the Samsung NX-10!

This is something special. Someone has allegedly seen a mock-up of the Samsung NX10, a digital camera of some sort, at a Korean trade show. There's not photos to speak of, and no real specs. Just a forum post saying, essentially: Hey, I saw it. Believe me.
