Super Talent SuperCrypt flash drive is both super with USB 3.0 and cryptic with 256-bit encryption
Posted on March 3, 2010 | No Comments
This is more like it. After seeing Corsair out a USB 2.0 flash drive yesterday, it kind of cast some doubt on the viability of USB 3.0. But Super Talent is here to restore our faith in the standard with the SuperCrypt flash drive. Yay!

The 128GB Corsair Flash Voyager GTR is quicker than your average 128GB flash drive
Posted on March 2, 2010 | No Comments
Corsair has always been known to make speedy flash drives and the new $426 128GB Flash Voyager GTR lives up to that perception. Corsair even claims it's fast enough to run an OS. 34MB/s read and 28MB/s write speeds are thanks to a quad-channel architecture, which is apprarently a lot faster than competing drives. But I'm not satisified. It needs to be faster than that.

Here's a rather unique DIY project for you: a russian builder created a USB key design using a block of wood, a switch, and a fan. Why do you need a fan for a USB key you ask? Well, I have no idea. The only thing I can think of is the glowing LED lights inside the glowing logo need cooling? Honestly, no clue.

The Apogee Astro Drive Series A101 from Chaintech is apparently the world’s smallest USB 3.0 drive
Posted on March 1, 2010 | No Comments
USB 3.0 is finally getting some traction in the market place as more products are announced from more manufacturers. Chaintech just intro'd its first USB 3.0 drive and slapped the notorious "world's smallest" label on it, which is probably true although a bit disingenuous as there's only about three USB 3.0 flash drives available right now.

Combination lock USB drive doomed to stay as a concept
Posted on February 10, 2010 | No Comments
When I first saw the picture of this USB drive, I immediately thought, "Why am I being assigned to write about a pregnancy test?" Then I actually realized that it's not a pee test, but rather a really bad idea for a secure USB drive.

Team outs the USB 2.0/eSATA X092 flash drive
Posted on December 31, 2009 | No Comments
Here we go again with another dual interface flash drive, but this time USB 3.0 is no where to be found. The Team X092 comes sporting both a USB 2.0 and eSATA interface. Of course with the eSATA interface, the drive should be rather quick and it is thanks to four data channels feeding separate flash memory modules.

SushiDisk USB stick/cell phone strap
Posted on December 8, 2009 | No Comments
Tokyo-based gadget maker Solid Alliance has given us quite a few cool/whacky USB drives in the past, and their new sushi USB stick [JP] is a nice addition to the line-up. The so-called SushiDisk offers 2GB of storage, but that's not really the important selling point here, is it?
