Lok-it secure USB drive protects your data
Posted on April 26, 2010 | No Comments
I love this device. It's always bothered me that if you lose a USB key, you lose the data as well. The Lok-IT secure USB device makes it so I don't have to worry about losing it. Well, other then the purchase price. The technology is pretty cool in that the computer can't see the drive until the PIN is entered, so it's not easy to hack.

Posted on March 16, 2010 | No CommentsIf you’re like me, you thought the AirStash was a mustache that floats in the air, like those seed things in Avatar, only not glowy. DIY Russian style: wooden USB drive

Here's a rather unique DIY project for you: a russian builder created a USB key design using a block of wood, a switch, and a fan. Why do you need a fan for a USB key you ask? Well, I have no idea. The only thing I can think of is the glowing LED lights inside the glowing logo need cooling? Honestly, no clue.

CrunchGear PSA: If you run XBMC or Boxee on your Apple TV, do not upgrade to 3.0
Posted on October 30, 2009 | No CommentsTo repeat, do not upgrade your Apple TV to 3.0 if you’re running hacked ATV plugins like XBox Media Center or Boxee. I’m sure this will be fixed in a matter of days – if not hours – but as of right now it means a ride on the Failboat to Sad Trombone Town. That’s [...] -

Fonera+ gets upgraded to 2.0, adds built-in torrent download and upload services, other goodies
Posted on July 13, 2009 | No Comments
As you recall Fon makes wireless routers for sharing. You install the Fon node in your house, share it with others, and then are given access to other Fonera routers around the world. It's sort of a viral Wi-Fi community.
Now, however, the Fonera is incredibly more interesting. The device can now access web services without the aid of a computer, allowing you to download torrents and "content" as well as upload to multiple services just by plugging in a USB key. The router also can be used as a webcam or print server and can connect to a 3G or HSDPA node and share the connection over Wi-Fi. It also supports 802.11n and acts as a wireless NAS with remote browsing capabilities. In short, the router just got much smarter.
