Photos and videos: CrunchGear visits Japan’s biggest Otaku party (CGM Night)
Posted on June 23, 2010 | No Comments
Japan's most famous Otaku culture blogger Danny Choo invited video games/anime/manga/Cosplay/figures/maid cafe fanatics from all over the country last weekend, and about 200 showed up at Digital Hollywood University for the eighth "CGM Night" (here's my report on the last one).
The idea is to bring Otaku and geeks out of their rooms and socialize among people of their kind. Needless to say, I was one of them (I live in Tokyo).

The Playstation Move is a Wii clone – but it’s awesome
Posted on June 16, 2010 | No CommentsThe Playstation Move is just what it looks like: a Wii clone. It feels the same, looks the same, and works the same. That’s a good thing, though. Everyone and their grandmother has played Wii bowling and knows how it works. Sony isn’t reinventing motion control with the Move. They are, however, seriously improving it. A [...] -

Every so often, some new iPhone app comes along that makes me go, "Dang, I really wish I had one o' dem iPhone thingers." Well, as you are probably expecting, right now is one of those moments.
I just read on Mashable that the original Prince of Persia is coming to the iPhone/iPod Touch as Prince of Persia Retro.

Apparently people want this system, too. The black bundle is currently on top of the Video Games Movers and Shakers list and number five on the Video Games Bestsellers list. The haptic hoo-haa ultrasound trainer
Posted on April 16, 2010 | No CommentsDude. This is great. It’s essentially a haptic trans-hoo-haa ultrasound simulator that teaches doctors how to perform an internal examination using an ultrasound wand. The greatest thing is that it offers haptic feedback so you can tell how hard to push in various situations. If video games have taught me anything, your accuracy and speed [...] -
If you’re selling pirated games over the Internet you deserve to be locked up for being a fool
Posted on April 8, 2010 | No CommentsDon't mess with Canada, I suppose. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrested someone last month for selling pirated games over the Internet. Of all the dumb things I've read, that's right up there with the best of them. Like, selling pirated video games on the Internet should be featured in "World's Dumbest Criminals" on some trash-television channel.

There will be a Red Faction movie. Let that sink in for a moment.
Posted on April 2, 2010 | No CommentsWow, someone has been tricked into making a Red Faction movie. That blows my mind. I base this on the first Red Faction for the PS2, which I don't recall enjoying at all. Maybe it'll be the first time we say the opposite of, "Eh, the book was better."

The Pokemon return: HeartGold and SoulSilver
Posted on March 10, 2010 | No Comments
So I got a random delivery today, and I was quite surprised to see it was from Nintendo. Even more surprising was when I opened the box and saw they had sent me the two latest Pokemon games, HeartGold and SoulSilver. What was even more interesting was when I started to read the enclosed literature that explained exactly what's new about these two games.

Shock: Sony invites devs to make games for the PS3
Posted on February 18, 2010 | No CommentsFlash: Sony executive is bullish about the PS3! The Wii—you've heard of it, yes? Years ago, it was hard to find because it was massively popular. You could find one on eBay, but for like $8 million. Nowadays? Not so much. Games like New Super Mario Bros. Wii will sell, sure, but third-party publishers are finding out: Hey, our games aren't selling too well here...
