Hands-on with Lenovo’s cavalcade of laptops and PCs
Posted on May 10, 2010 | No CommentsLenovo’s new line-up is heavy on the all-in-ones but has a few surprises up its sleeve. I got a chance to look at most of the new line last week and came away extremely enthused by the twee Q150. From the press release: If your idea of fun is tricking out your living room entertainment center, [...] -
Peek has some “big stuff” in the works even though it’s short on cash
Posted on March 25, 2010 | No Comments
"Big stuff that will blow away folks. Not just an awesome “Peek for Life” promo. But really, truly big stuff. So stay tuned for Project Big Stuff." That's a direct quote from Peek's official blog after stating flat out the company is short on cash even though they make a decent amount of revenue. Of course Peek could probably raise a bit more if absoulity necessary, but we're curious what the company that brought us the email-only, and more recently Twitter-only, device is working on.

Posted on February 15, 2010 | No CommentsEven as Windows Mobile 7 is set to wow us, more and more manufacturers are heading towards Android. Case in point: the Acer Liquid e. This 786MHz Snapdrago device is as bog standard as they come with GPS, WiFi, and HSDAP support. It also runs Android 2.1 and should be nice and fast. It has a 3.5-inch display and looks like a Zune mated with an N1.

BlackBerry services down in North America yet again?
Posted on December 22, 2009 | No Comments
Look, BlackBerrys are always supposed to do a few things well: 1) grab your email in real time off an Exchange server; 2) make you look important; and 3) work. It seems, though, that we're working on our third major North American outage here in less than a month, with reports flowing in that users connected to BIS are having trouble with Messenger, web browsing, and apps that consume data (though email is inexplicably unaffected). Anyone out there seeing problems?

Is Sprint letting the police follow us around?
Posted on December 3, 2009 | No Comments
There's a bit of a tizzy this week about Sprint allowing police officials to read up to 8 million "pings" on its network in order to track felons. Sprint made it considerably easier for police to do this by adding a special "portal," probably a phone number-based dump of GPS data for phones over time, to the service they offer upon receiving a court order or a subpoena. I wonder, however, if this 8 million number isn't far too high to be within the realm of sanity and/or if this number should make us

Sony's first attempts at a netbook were disastrously bad, but
