Nexus One, Nokia X6 coming to South Korea in June

Like Japan, South Korea has a wireless industry that's typically leaps and bounds ahead of just about everywhere else in the world -- but the country has never been a Symbian or Android stronghold, so it's actually not much of a surprise that two big recent releases are just now heading over there this Summer. From Nokia, the X6 will be hitting KT in June for 595,000 won, which works out to $495; Google, meanwhile, will be contributing the Nexus One by way of rival operator SKT toward the end of June for an undisclosed price. Don't say you weren't warned, MOTOROI.

  • Facebook Launches Android SDK

    Facebook Launches Android SDK

Today, Facebook is releasing its first official SDK for Android, offering developers on Google's mobile OS an easy way to tie their Android native apps to Facebook Platform. As AllFacebook noted last week, this SDK is actually more advanced than the iPhone SDK because it features Facebook's Graph API, which was unveiled at its f8 developer conference last month. According to the post on Facebook's Developer blog, the SDK also uses OAuth 2.0 for authentication and the ability to publish stories to Facebook using Feed forms.

Four new Samsung Bada handsets make a surprise appearance

Samsung is a strange company. They, like many other companies, fight tooth and nail to keep their products a secret. Then they go and show four unannounced handsets at a developer event — sans any details beyond appearance. Did they just forget these weren’t announced? Are they trying to build up the hype? Either way: [...]

Photos: The birth of an HTC Legend unibody aluminum shell

Just last week, HTC announced the Legend. As the epic name implies, it's essentially the "Hero 2"; its got the jutting chin, the rounded corners, and HTC's software signatures all over it. The primary difference, outside of a minor (but still worthwhile) hardware spec bump, is the design of the body; carved from a single block of aluminum, it's ridiculously light weight, super strong, and drop dead gorgeous. While we somehow managed to over look it whilst roaming (almost absurdly) huge halls of Mobile World Congress, our buddies at MobileBurn spotted a display case showing off examples of the unibody shell as it steps through the manufacturing process.

Poles are shocked – shocked! – at Bioshock 2

Oh, Ziema Lubuska, today is your lucky day! Apparently a games blogger for Gazeta Lubulska (Circulation: Maybe fifty grandmas out in Zielona Gora, Poland) just rocked the world with his review of Bioshock 2 saying that the game is a "Shock" and asking if "this is the direction video games are heading?" While his arguments are slow-witted and dull, it's definitely giving a small paper in rural Poland a nice boost in pageviews.

  • Re transforms your iPhone into a universal remote (which seems like a step backwards, to be honest)

Re transforms your iPhone into a universal remote (which seems like a step backwards, to be honest)

OK, so we know a thing or two about the "convenience" of using your iPhone as a remote control. For instance, using it to control Boxee was alright -- until we needed to make a call. Or we received a call. Not to rain on anyone's parade, but the idea of re-purposing your phone to act as a universal remote seems a little silly. But what do we know? Maybe you hold all calls while Jersey Shore is on anyways. In that case, Re could be your next favorite gadget. This bad boy lets your handset communicate with all your AV equipment via infrared, contains an extensive database of devices, and can learn from any IR remote. If that weren't enough, New Kinetix promises regular updates to the app -- and your typical remote can't do that! Compatible with the iPod Touch as well, there's no word yet on a price or release date, but we're expecting that we'll be getting plenty more details come CES time.

Sidekick Outages Could Have Cost Microsoft Over $700,000 Per Day

Since the Great Sidekick Disaster of 2009, there’s been a nearly endless torrent of tips on the matter barraging our inbox. Some weren’t so much “tips” as they were “mindless rants”, while others were obviously just angry customers looking to make stuff up. Recently, however, a source which has proven itself reliable in the past has [...]

Crooks clear out an Apple store in 31 seconds

Crooks broke into a New Jersey Apple store and took 23 MacBook Pros, 14 iPhones, and nine iPods. By the time the roly-poly security guard saunters back in the crooks have broken the window, taken the haul, and run back out. It clearly looks like these boys have been practicing this run. Also, I’m no Jason [...]

Apple bans App Store’s 3rd-most prolific developer

Over the past few weeks, Apple has been much-maligned for keeping apps such as Google Voice off the App Store. These weren’t some random garbage apps; there was no farting, or baby shaking. Google Voice apps are utilities which many have come to rely on, and thus many (including TechCrunch founder Mike Arrington) are [...]

What happens when artificial intelligence gets too advanced for its own good?

Imagine you're sitting at the dining table reading the latest Wrestling Observer, as you do from time to time. Nothing too crazy, just minding your own business. Then, suddenly—it's always suddenly—the microwave hops off the counter, wielding a knife, and comes charging after you. Oh, dear!

Anime as far as the eye can see on newly launched PSP/PSN store in Japan

This machine translation is a little rough, but I think a PSP/PSN Store just launched (or re-launched, depending on your point of view) in Japan. Gamers there can buy, with actual yen (and not “Space Bucks” that you need on Xbox Live), all sorts of videos. I spy music videos and anime.

Oh Lord No. LG Shows 12MP Camera Phone

Hey, LG. Didn’t you get the memo? The one that said  ”12 megapixels is enough? In a real camera? We guess not. LG now joins Samsung in the “prestigious” 12 megapixel telephone category with its prototype Louvre, which we presume is named for the Paris museum and not the slatted wooden door. Sample shots and video emerge from Pentax’s K-7 DSLR

As with Panasonic's Lumix DMC-GH1, a few lucky folks who have managed to spend a few moments with Pentax's new 14.6 megapixel K-7 have stopped to host up the results for us to drool over. Early stills are rather impressive, with images being sharp, crisp and generally delightful to stare at. As for video, it's tough to judge the real quality based on a YouTube rendition, but feel free to glean what you can just after the break. So, if you weren't sold already, are you now?
