Wii remote used to control Windows Phone 7 app (in emulator)
Posted on June 1, 2010 | No Comments
So this is kinda cool. At the ReMix Australia event today, some dude used a Wii remote as an accelerometer for an app running on the Windows Phone 7 emulator.
There aren't many details available beyond that. It seems that WM Experts found out about it by watching a Twitter hashtag, so it's anyone's guess, really.

Can the Nexus One run Quake 3? Yup.
Posted on May 10, 2010 | No Comments
All this port needs is the Wii Remote hack from earlier and it will be near perfect. A PS3 Bluetooth controller would make it perfect. Now that Quake 3 has been ported, how about some Half-Life action?

Control your Nexus One or Droid with a Wii Remote for fun and profit
Posted on May 10, 2010 | No CommentsIf you have a Nexus One or Motorola Droid and play classic games with an emulator, you must do this hack. It essentially turns the Nexus One into a full-fledge portable gaming system. The Wii Remote is even small enough to travel with, too. Can’t you see yourself pulling out the phone and firing up [...] -
The black Wii gets a price and official release date
Posted on May 3, 2010 | No Comments
We've been following the black Wii saga since Nintendo released the dark side gaming console in Nippon. It's been a long and exciting story, but gamers on this side of the Pacific Rim will be able to snag the Wii MotionPlus + Wii Sports Resort bundle on May 9th for $199. Even better, the $199 price point also applies to the white Wii, signalling a slight price drop.

You can now play Swords with your Wii (thankyouvermuch)
Posted on April 29, 2010 | No CommentsMoving on, Majesco Entertainment just announced a sword fighting game cleverly named Swords. It uses Wii MotionPlus for 1-to-1 accuracy as you fight your way through “eight skilled adversaries” with a sword Wii Remote add-on. Expect the game this September. To be honest, I couldn’t care less about the game or the sword Wii Remote [...] -
The PowerV Quad from Konnet Technology aims to charges and display Wii Remotes
Posted on April 27, 2010 | No Comments
There isn't much to be said here. One look at the pic and headline and you probably already know what it's a 4-port Wii Remote inductive changing station. But you probably don't know that the PowerV Quad even works Wii Motion Plus and silcone covers. Nice, eh? $50 and ships in a few weeks.

Dolphin, the Wii and GameCube emulator, has its first post-open source release. It’s really good.
Posted on April 12, 2010 | No CommentsAround two years ago, Dolphin, the GameCube and Wii emulator for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, went open source. Today marks the first official release since that magical day. And let me tell you something: Dolphin works really, really well. Give it a shot when you have a chance.

Sony: “The PS3 is all the 3D gaming you need and you better like it.” (or something like)
Posted on March 24, 2010 | No Comments
Yesterday's Nintendo 3DS took everyone by surprise. Who expected that Nintendo would announce its next big thing on a random Tuesday in March. Not us. Curious what Sony has to say about it? Well, basically don't expect a 3D PSP anytime soon.

Sic semper tyrannis: motion control in video games
Posted on March 11, 2010 | No CommentsLet the record show: I think motion controllers, like the Wii, Sony Move, or Microsoft's Project Natal, are sorta dumb. They simply don't seem to be precise enough for my tastes—I'm far too used to a mouse and keyboard to give that up for the "thrill" of flailing my arms in the arm like the robot from Lost In Space. But it wasn't always like that.

Tiger Woods 11 for Wii to feature ‘True View’ first person golf shots
Posted on March 10, 2010 | No Comments
Oh boy, I love where EA Sports is going with this. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, due out in June, will feature something called “True View,” which allows you to hit your in-game golf shots from a real-life, top-down point of view. When coupled with the Wii MotionPlus accessory, “It works extremely well,” according to IGN.

There’s a Wii game that’s just walking
Posted on February 16, 2010 | No Comments
Konami, you magnificent bastards. I’ve seen Wii fitness games before but this brings the idea to a whole new level.
Walk It Out! is a game where the goal is to… wait for it… walk around.

It's official on. That is the motion control wars and, don't hate, but Nintendo isn't one of the combatants. Nope, this war is clearly between Microsoft and Sony. It's the Kinect vs the Move. Full body tracking vs 1-1 controller tracking. This is going to turn out great for you, me, and both Sony and Microsoft.
