China’s knockoff iPads have no one fooled… or do they?

Pretty sure China plays by its own rules when it comes to pirated versus non-piated goods, but this story's still worth a chuckle. Ever since Apple said that it would delay international launches of the iPad in order to placate U.S. demand— the magical and revolutionary device is flying off the shelves, it seems—Chinese manufacturers have flooded their internal market with iPad knockoff after iPad knockoff. They're slightly less expensive than the real thing, but the important part is that they're available right now. Not bona fide, but bona found. I love how that makes no sense whatsoever.

Thanko’s Micro Sport MP3 Player weighs just 8g (video)

Thanko, the Tokyo-based maker of all things USB, sometimes produces gadgets that aren't silly. Today, the company announced the Micro Sport MP3 Player [JP] that's supposed to be especially suitable for people who want to listen to music while doing sports. The only drawback is that the thing doesn't look to be designed for this purpose at all (but maybe that's just me). Integrating one earbud into the main unit might lead to problems.

  • Tube amplifier-shaped USB speaker

    Tube amplifier-shaped USB speaker

Tube or valve amplifiers are electronic amplifiers that make use of vacuum tubes to boost the power of a signal. They've been around for decades, and some audio freaks still love the sound they help to produce. And they look kind of pretty, too. Reason enough for Hanwha Japan to come up with the US-0498 [JP], a PC speaker that looks like a tube amplifier (but isn't one).

Tokyo-based USB gadget maker today started selling two spy cameras, the so-called Camera Cap [JP] and the LED Spy Light [JP]. As to be expected, both gadgets are kind of silly and powered by USB.

Why watch that Facebook movie when you can see these?

It has come to our attention that someone is making a movie about Facebook, called The Social Network. It stars Justin Timberlake as Sean Parker and Jesse Eisberg as Mark Zuckerberg.
