AT&T having data trouble in parts of Florida
Posted on June 9, 2010 | No Comments
We've been tipped off today that data services are down "in the Southeast," and AT&T is telling us now that the problems are restricted to Jacksonville, Gainesville, and the Florida panhandle -- and as of right now, there's no confirmed ETA for when the situation will be resolved. Here's the official statement we have from the company:
Is anyone out there having trouble?"Some AT&T 3G wireless customers in the panhandle, Jacksonville and Gainesville are unable to use data on their devices, but still have voice capabilities. Our techs are working to fix the problem and get to the root cause."
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]
Update: Our own Ben Drawbaugh says that he's been having intermittent trouble in Tampa since he first tried around 9AM ET, which is decidedly outside the "panhandle, Jacksonville and Gainesville" area that AT&T is quoting. Anyone else outside those areas having issues?AT&T having data trouble in parts of Florida originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Wed, 09 Jun 2010 12:46:00 EST. AT&T may have bailed on Tiger, but they still want you to watch the Masters on your phone
Posted on April 5, 2010 | No Comments
This post was originally supposed to be a nice little summary of how AT&T would be bringing the 2010 Masters Golf Tournament to their wireless customers.
Then we remembered that AT&T bailed as a sponsor of Tiger Woods, a Masters golfer, after something from his personal life became public knowledge.

Motorola takes two steps back, says DROID update isn’t coming this week

Samsung’s Omnia II gets the video tear down you’ve all been longing for
Posted on December 22, 2009 | No CommentsSamsung's WinMo 6.5-packin' Omnia II has been available to Verizon Wireless customers (or at least those unaffected by the Droid) for a few weeks now, but strangely, we've yet to see a proper dissection of this here smartphone until today. That said, we're sure the patience you've put into this will pay off after after heading past the break, where all of the itty-bitty internals are shown in stunning detail for your entertainment / education. As a good gal we once knew would say: "Ain't that the berries!"

Sprint continues to lose money, customers
Posted on July 29, 2009 | No Comments
It seems the Palm Pre is too little, too late for Sprint. According to Sprint's Q2 financials for 2009, they've lost nearly $400 million dollars, and "total wireless customers declined by approximately 257,000." It's not all doom-and-gloom, though! Sprint can smile about "18 consecutive months of improvement in Customer Care Satisfaction and First Call Resolution"!

Review: BlackBerry Tour 9630 (Verizon)
Posted on July 22, 2009 | No Comments
Short Version: As it stands, the BlackBerry Tour 9630 is the best smartphone available for Verizon Wireless customers. It’s a mash-up of the AT&T BlackBerry Bold and T-Mobile BlackBerry Curve 8900. One would think that this would lead to the perfect BlackBerry, but it has one glaring flaw and it isn’t one that you can get over quickly, if ever.

Rural Cellular Association agrees: Verizon’s new exclusivity deal sucks
Posted on July 21, 2009 | No CommentsJust a few days ago, Verizon announced a change to the way they’d handle exclusive handset deals: rather than holding on to all of their exclusive handsets for years and years, they’d let any small carrier (defined as any carrier with under 500,000 customers) offer the same phones after a 6-month absolute exclusivity period. It [...] -
