Shock study: Adult Web sites are filled with malware
Posted on June 11, 2010 | No CommentsWow, who would have guessed that visiting adult Web sites would be dangerous to the health of your computer? I mean, of all of the genres of sites out there—sports, tech, politics, books, etc.—the last I would have predicted to be dangerous was adult ones. Thanks, International Secure System Lab

WickedLasers Spyder III Pro Arctic Laser burns all comers
Posted on June 10, 2010 | No CommentsHoly wow. I saw this thing this morning but I forgot about it. Then Kyle at Giz pointed out that this laser – made from diodes out of a Casio slim projector – costs only $200 and can burn almost anything. Now I’m interested. We’ve done reviews of WickedLaser products in the past but this looks [...] -
Palm Pixi Plus now free on AT&T
Posted on June 9, 2010 | No Comments
Wow, that didn't take long! A couple days ago, you were paying $50 to take this thing home, but AT&T has moved perhaps quicker than any carrier in memory to adjust pricing on the Pixi Plus down to a more reasonable $0 -- on contract after rebates, of course. The only catch appears to be that you'll have to sign up for a data plan of at least $15, which corresponds to the carrier's recently-introduced DataPlus package that includes 200MB per month with overage of $15 per additional 200MB. That might seem low for your average power user on your average smartphone -- but this is a Pixi Plus we're talking about here.
[Thanks, Allen]Palm Pixi Plus now free on AT&T originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 09 Jun 2010 17:20:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

Google TV Unveiled. It’s All About The Ad Reach
Posted on May 20, 2010 | No CommentsToday at Google I/O, the company made the announcement that everyone was waiting for — Google TV. While some glitches in the demo (with the Bluetooth keyboard) prevented it from being a “wow” moment, the implications are pretty clear what Google is going for. That is, the 4 billion TV users worldwide. Or rather, advertising [...] -

The iPhone Leak Gets Ugly: Police Raid Gizmodo Editor’s House, Confiscate Computers
Posted on April 26, 2010 | No Comments
Wow. Last week, Gizmodo published a massive scoop when they got their hands on what is mostly likely the next iPhone. At the time there was plenty of talk about the legality of Gizmodo's actions (as they admitted to paying $5000 for the device). Now Gizmodo has just published a post saying that editor Jason Chen had four of his computers and two servers confiscated by California's Rapid Enforcement Allied Computer Team, who entered the house with a search warrant.
Gawker's COO has responded to the actions by citing California Penal Code 1524(g), which states that "no warrant shall issue for any items described in Section 1070 of the Evidence Code", which protects information used by reporters.

There will be a Red Faction movie. Let that sink in for a moment.
Posted on April 2, 2010 | No CommentsWow, someone has been tricked into making a Red Faction movie. That blows my mind. I base this on the first Red Faction for the PS2, which I don't recall enjoying at all. Maybe it'll be the first time we say the opposite of, "Eh, the book was better."

OK Go’s amazing Rube Goldberg music video
Posted on March 2, 2010 | No CommentsSo you thought OK Go was a one trick pony, right? They did the old treadmill trick and we were all like “Wow! Amazing!” but take a look at this action. These guys basically recorded this in a single shot, arriving in their places with just as all sorts of crazy things happen. Seriously: color me [...] -
Quick look at the Creative WoW headset
Posted on February 18, 2010 | No Comments
We have a few WoW players on staff here and they've been pretty excited about this headset. That said, I got a chance to take a look at them and I'm quite pleased. The styling is great and the light-up logos on the sides add a fun way to identify yourself in a crowded LAN party. The wireless version is $159 and the wired is $119 and they should be available in March.

SteelSeries asks: You know the goody bag given out at the end of fancy events?
Posted on January 26, 2010 | No Comments
Jimin-with-the-big-FLAC-collection and I met with one of the SteelSeries guys today. It's funny: you think you understand where a company's coming from, but then you sit down and actually talk to them and it's like, “Wow, OK, you guys are pretty cool.” So to the people who will walk out of Sunday's Grammy Awards with one of those fancy gift bags you always hear about, I can say this: you'll probably enjoy the SteelSeries headphones you find in there.

You can run, but you can't hide (in cyberspace). In one of the strangest stories of 2009, it's been reported that Blizzard worked with law enforcement to help catch a drug dealer.
