Posted on August 19, 2009 | No Comments
Sony loves them some bundle packs and the Gundam franchise will be the first to grace the box of a PS3 Slim. The Japanese only box will include Kidou Senshi Gundam Senki and will save gamers a few yen. But the pack also includes product codes for FA-78-3 Full Armor Gundam and RX-81AS Assault Armor DLC packs, and an original HD animated Gundam film.

Gallery: Sony PS3 Slim [Update]
Posted on August 18, 2009 | No Comments
We’ve just received the official images and press release from Sony regarding the PS3 Slim. The new SKU, CECH-2000A, will rock a 120GB HDD and goes on sale in NA, Europe/PAL and Asian countries on September 1 for $299 and €299, respectively. Surprisingly, Japan will get the Slim two days later for 29,980 yen. The 80GB PS3 price drops down to $299 starting today in NA and down to €299 starting tomorrow. The 160GB PS3 also saw a price drop of $100 and now goes for $399. The rest of the press release can be found after the jump.
Update: We've added a picture of the last gen PS3 with the new Slim PS3 so you can see the difference in size.

Nintendo’s quarterly profits just fell 66 percent
Posted on July 30, 2009 | No CommentsWe're gonna need another cliché to describe the Nintendo Wii. It seems the little system isn't as much of a money-printing machine as it once was, with Nintendo's profits down 66 percent (!) from the same quarter last year. Now, the video game industry is a little weird because in no single quarter are you guaranteed to have a hit game. There's no law that says a new Mario or Zelda has to come out every May.

Hint: Only wear the Wink Glasses when in the comfort of fellow nerds
Posted on July 30, 2009 | No Comments
I'm guessing most of us have experienced the sensation of our eyes glossing over and and losing the ability to focus on the computer screen. It feels like your looking at Magic Eye art, almost like you're looking through the screen. It usually happens after staring at the computer screen for endless hours during an all-nighter LAN party or while sitting in a cubical, mindlessly calling people to refi their mortgage with you. (experience talking there) These Wink Glasses aim to solve that issue by forcing your eye blink. Neat.

Anime as far as the eye can see on newly launched PSP/PSN store in Japan
Posted on July 22, 2009 | No CommentsThis machine translation is a little rough, but I think a PSP/PSN Store just launched (or re-launched, depending on your point of view) in Japan. Gamers there can buy, with actual yen (and not “Space Bucks” that you need on Xbox Live), all sorts of videos. I spy music videos and anime.

Disney Japan to launch movies on microSD cards in November
Posted on July 22, 2009 | No CommentsWell, this is certainly a novel idea that I hope studios in the US will adopt. Disney Japan announced today that it would begin shipping microSD cards chock-full of Disney movie goodness with the DVDs themselves. Panasonic will provide Disney Japan with the pint-sized memory cards when the DVD/microSD combos ship in November for 4935 [...] -

Wallets Made From Old Moneybags
Posted on July 15, 2009 | No CommentsQuestion: You have a stack of old, vintage moneybags, and a yen to make something out of them. What do you do? If you’re Etsy seller Rikkianne (aka. chakrapennywhistle), you do nothing. Conceptually, at least. These wallets have gone from holding big stacks of cash to smaller stacks of cash, and are fashioned from old banking [...] -
New service enables total control of factory workers
Posted on July 3, 2009 | No CommentsIn principle, any advance in any field of technology is welcome, but I have my doubts about this new service developed by a Japanese company called DSS. It's basically aimed at establishing a "big brother"-like control system [JP, PDF] within factories.
